I have a question for you: What does simplifying mean to you?

Does it mean deprivation, scarcity, giving things up, going without, depriving yourself, or having to say No a lot? (Making life miserable, boring, and no fun at all?)

I believe it can mean lightening up, freeing yourself, and living in a way that makes you happier, more clearheaded, and less stressed. (Making life more joyful and fun!) Having a clear picture of what you hope to achieve by simplifying is a great motivator for action.

Each Sunday in September I’ll bring you some simple ways to simplify, and the inspiration to do it.

This week: The Simplest Start to Simplifying (And My Superfood Smoothie Recipe!)

Simplifying begins in the kitchen. The kitchen sink to be exact. Did you know that the state of your house~psyche~life is reflected in the state of your kitchen sink? It’s true!

For the next week try the following:

Simplifying Challenge #1: End every day with a clean kitchen sink. Dishes done, sink rinsed out.

You’ve heard “Never go to bed angry”? Well, add, “Never go to bed with a dirty, cluttered kitchen sink.”

I know, for me, this practice calms and clears my head in the evening, and helps me “put the day to bed” before I go to sleep. Walking into a clean, uncluttered kitchen in the morning to have some hot, lemon water and my morning smoothie helps ready me to face a new day with inner calm.

Simplify your morning with this delicious and nutrition-packed smoothie, for a simple way to energize yourself for whatever your day holds.

Annie’s Superfood Smoothie

1 cup blueberries

1/2 cup chopped kale leaves (stems removed)

1 Tablespoon chia seeds

1 Tablespoon flaxmeal

10 raw almonds

1/2 cup almond or hemp milk

1/2 cup water

Blend everything together in a NUTRiBULLET (my new favorite machine!) or a blender. Note: if using a blender, soak the almonds and seeds in water for at least 10 minutes.

I’d love to know what simplifying means to you and what feel you would gain from simplifying even just one part of your life. Join in the discussion!

All My Best,

Annie
